Yes, I know, this is a first, I'm actually scheduling Downtime for the server, and I'm actually letting you guys know about this. Funny thing, huh?

No, it's not April 1st. And no, I'm not fixing a bunch of bugs. I'm going to be bringing the servers down tomorrow night (Saturday), at 7pm Central Standard Time. During this time, I will be doing some major maintenance on the server, that is much needed. This will hopefully improve our lag issues, as well as problems with crashes that we have been having when the databases are backed up.

The ESTIMATED downtime will be between an hour to two hours. This is an Estimate, not a set in stone time frame. As always, problems can occur, that I may need to fix on the fly. I will post to this thread on updates as I go along, and if anything happens, which can cause the servers to be down for more time then expected.

No, I am not updating the source code, we're still going to be on Revision 6670 of the server core, and I won't be making any fixes. This will mainly be maintenance.

Since most of our population doesn't read these boards, please let others know, so that they can be prepared for it.

We have our new machine now and have moved to MaNGOS. We have spent the past few days ironing out the lag issues and increasing stability. Any bugs you find, please report them in Here. Help us make this server the best blizzlike out there :) I would like to thank all of the players for their patience throughout all of this. It was a rough ride, but we finally made it :)

The last core introduced a MAJOR bug with the AI of the mobs, they no longer moved or attacked We are working our HARDEST to fix this as soon as we can.

The MangOS switch has been postponed until at least Thursday, there were problems with guilds and items not transferring. No items or guilds were lost, and we are restoring to Ascent until Mario has a chance to iron out the transfer bugs. For more information Click Here.

PS - I know a lot of you already know, but I forgot that people wanted me to post more on the front page, so there.

About two weeks ago, I started re-organizing the staff, because we had over fifty GMs in the Staff guild on Darkwolf and I knew for a fact we did not have fifty active GMs. So, fourteen days later, I have posted up the results of my house cleaning. It has not happened yet for two main reasons:

1) There is one last bug with the character transfer script. We can't use it if it can't connect properly to the database, eh?

2) Niia, gremlin and vexx have to be around at roughly the same time. A feat considering they live half a world apart from each other.

So, for the moment, don't expect much warning. Treat it as if it could happen within an hour of whenever you're playing. So, my words of advice:

- Don't use the auction house
- Send mail only if you know it'll be picked up within an hour or two
- Don't invest more into your pets

We blocked the offending IP addresses, and also applied a patch to our logonserver.

We've now upgraded to 2.4 - you MUST have 2.4 or 2.4.1 installed to access tru-wow now. To do this, use the wow launcher and let blizz update it. When you are finished change the realmlist back to www.truwowonline.com and then MAKE THE FILE READ ONLY. To do this, right-click on your realmlist file and then check the read only box. For some reason Mac users don't have to do this :D Well I didn't anyway.

NOTE: the new area is not spawned - this is the same across all private servers. Also since NCDB has now gone underground, there are no 2.4 items in the database. Changes appear to be various talent fixes, and chat now looks silly >.>

Yes, thats correct. Tomorrow we will be rolling out the 2.4 patch.

This is just a reminder to download the patch so you are ready, we do not have a specific time for rollout yet, as Niiam and myself need to figure out a time we are both availiable together.

I'm currently spawning the high level herbs that never seem to be in the DB - So far, I've put Netherbloom in Netherstorm, and Silversage in Winterspring and Azshara. I'm still doing it, it's going to take a while though :P

The player base has remained steady and we hope for it to grow! So get those votes in.

Sorry to say, but this is in fact normal. This is a result of mob armor being added in a recent patch. Have fun everyone :P

The firewall is now setup, so everything ingame is A-Okay.

The bad news is we found out MySQL (on Linux) was related to the save issues. So we pulled the plug on pretty much the last thing to remain on Linux and moved the database over to the Windows box. The problem is, with the new firewall, we don't have the ports forwarded yet to this new database. So web based things that need the database will likely fail. Sorry folks, but it's how the cookie crumbles. It should be fine by tomorrow again.

Update: gremlin has informed that it's working. But if you made an account between around 6pm Eastern American time today and 11pm, and can't login, please remake it.

Just wait for us to resolve the issue, please.

1) The firewall has been ordered but not set up by our host yet. There will be some brief downtime for when it will need to be set up.

2) The webpage for character transfers to the new PvE realm will need to be made and put up.

Well, the next milestone in development for the ascent team has been achieved.
A collisions system has been implemented, which basically means mobs aren't ghosts anymore.
